Sheldon Elton Anderson 86
Sheldon “Shelly” Anderson, age 86 died peacefully Thursday afternoon March 22, 2012 at Colonel Hill of Rochester Care andRehabilitationCenter,RochesterNew Hampshire, surrounded by family.
Born December 2nd, 1925, in Lynn, MA, to Walter E. and Hazel E. (Keene) Anderson.
In 1942 to work for Sanborn Co. inCambridge,MAas an assembly man and repairman.
On Dec. 1, 1943 and joined the Navy. He served in WWII as a Motor Machinist's Mate, Second Class and honorably discharged on May 16, 1946. On May 17, 1946 he was called back into service and served in the Korean War as an Engineman (Diesel) Second Class, maintaining and repairing diesel engines. He was honorably discharged on May 16, 1954.
Sheldon then went on to work for Hewlett-Packard, supervising the making of medical equipment.
Sheldon was a long time resident ofWakefield,Massachusettsuntil his retirement in 1986.
Sheldon loved to camp and travel theUnited Statesin his Winnebago. He and his wife retired to the Villages in Florida.
After is wife of 60 years Martha E. (Curley) passed away he moved to Dover, New Hampshire to be closer to his children.
A Methodist by faith, and very active in the Church; Boy Scout Leader for many years, and he volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity.
Sheldon is survived by his, son Sheldon W. Anderson and his wife Marlene of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, daughter Kathleen J. McCauley and her husband Michael of Lebanon, Maine, granddaughter's Casey Reilley and her husband Richard of Connecticut, Melissa Anderson and Michelle Anderson of Massachusetts, Kristine Mayo and her husband David of New Hampshire, grandson Michael McCauley of New Hampshire, great grand children Elyse Giagrande and Abigail Anderson of Massachusetts, Sarah and Ashley McCauley and Kiana Mayo of New Hampshire.
Sheldon is also survived by his sister Judy Kerr of Hemet CA, brother-in-laws Joseph and his wife Patricia of Massachusetts, James and his wife Janet of East Lyme, Connecticut, sister-in-law Marcia Tenney of Falls Church, Virginia, and many nieces and nephews.
His was predeceased by his wife Martha (Curley) and his brother Robert and his wife Florence.
A memorial service will be held for him at Wakefield-Lynnfield United-Methodist Church, May 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm.
